Happiness + Gratitude Journal Prompt ideas for your Planner or Bullet Journal

Do you like the idea of incorporating daily gratitude journaling in your planner or bullet journal but have no idea how to do it? Luckily planners and journals come in all shapes, sizes and styles so with a little planning (sorry…I couldn’t help myself)…daily gratitude journaling can be added to our pages quickly and easily.

Not sure what to write about? Head over to THIS POST to see some examples and ideas.

Ready to get into the nitty gritty of how you actually work journaling into layout? Here are several suggestions on how and where you can place your statements in both planners and bullet journals.

PICK A BOX!

It sounds like we are playing on a television game show with the heading of this paragraph…but when it comes to planning…there are no shortage of boxes. Most common store bought planners have boxes that break the day up into 3 sections. Think Erin Condren and Mambi Happy Planner. Usually the boxes are filled with tasks, appointments and decorations but if you have a spare box you can dedicate it to your daily gratitude or happiness statement.

Your journaling can be simple text or if the thought of your undecorated hand writing sends a shiver down your spine, use a decorative background for your journaling. Dress up the box with frames, journaling boxes or even small decorative stickers that surround your statement.

MAKE USE OF SIDEBAR + NOTE SPACE

Do you fully use the sidebar and note sections of your planner? Perhaps there is some valuable planner real estate there that can be utilised for your statements. Create a running list of things that make your happy as they occur or write one for each day. Decorate with a cute banner sticker or other stickers.

CREATE A PAGE

Create a page in your planner or bullet journal dedicated to your gratitude or happiness statements. Use pretty wreaths to frame your writing or fill the page with colourful boxes. Or if you are a minimal sort of girl, simply write the date and list as shown in the above photograph.

GET CREATIVE

Think outside the box…literally. Why limit yourself with the boxes or spaces that you are given. Create pockets for journaling cards, flaps that open to review your journaling, add extra pages or folded pages that can be glued to your existing planner pages, bookmarks. If you don’t have enough space…create it.

USE A CALENDAR

Are you using the monthly calendar in your planner? If the answer is no, then why not use it to record your daily statements. Short sweet statements work well on a calendar plus it’s a great way to challenge yourself to journal every day. If do use your monthly calendar for planning, create your own calendar or purchase a monthly calendar off Etsy and add to your planner.

CREATE A SECTION

For Bullet Journaling, add a section to your daily or weekly layouts where you can add your happiness and gratitude statements. If you use a weekly spread, create a seven days of gratitude area. For daily bullet journaling, you can simply add it as an entry. Luckily Bullet Journaling offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to working a daily gratitude practice into your planning routine .

MAKE IT EASY

Whatever way you choose to add thoughts of happiness or gratitude to your layouts, it shouldn’t be complicated. Use stickers or stamps to create boxes or simply dedicate a box in an Erin Condren Planner to your journaling.  Create a template, copy it each day or week. Make a template in Microsoft word and stick it in your planner. Use post it notes. Post it notes are cheap, easy and come and all sorts of shapes and colors and can be easily added to your daily layouts.

NOW YOUR TURN…

Does one idea stand out? Will it fit in with your planning routine? Will it be easy and quick? Choose one method to try for a week? If that idea didn’t work, try something else. Or mix it up on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
